OfS releases priorities for universities when supporting students amid coronavirus (COVID-19)

The Office for Students (OfS) student panel has published several recommendations for higher-educational institutions on how to best support students in self-isolation due to coronavirus (COVID-19). As part of the priorities, the OfS student panel mentions that universities and colleges should find practical ways to address feelings of loneliness and isolation by letting students ‘build relationships with classmates and housemates’. Communications on a daily or regular basis with students ‘in an accessible manner that is specific, clear and supportive’ should also be maintained through the pandemic. Furthermore, higher education providers should consider the needs of those with disabilities and from different backgrounds.
