New form for extension of leave under the coronavirus (COVID-19) concession

The Home Office has published a short visa extension form for those looking to extend their leave if they are unable to travel to their home due to travel restrictions, or if they are self-isolating in relation to coronavirus (COVID-19).

The COVID-19 UK Visas & Immigration Form can be found in the body of the Home Office coronavirus guidance of 24 March 2020. Examples of information that should be included in the form include:

• a Home Office/VAF/GWF reference number(s)

• the type of visa held

• a recent valid passport number

• the reason(s) for not returning (500-character limit)

This form must be completed online by those whose leave is due to expire between 24 January 2020 and 31 May 2020 (inclusive). All sections of the form must be completed, however, ‘not applicable’ or ‘not known’ entries may be inserted, where appropriate.

The form states that individuals may wish to take a screenshot of the completed form, for their records.

After pressing ‘submit form’, the individual will need to verify their email address to complete the submission process. The Coronavirus Immigration Team (who process the form) will then respond within five working days.
