Minister shares thoughts on coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine deployment

The Department of Health and Social Care has published a statement made by the Minister for COVID Vaccine Deployment, Nadhim Zahawi, on the three coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccines and their full deployment plan. The Minister announced the authorisation of the Moderna vaccine means, by spring, there will be three ‘safe and effective’ vaccines to use in the UK. He continued by stating the full vaccine deployment plan is the culmination of months of hard work and preparation by the NHS, the Armed Forces, and local and regional government. He confirmed that the government aims to protect the most vulnerable groups first, therefore, the vaccine will be offered to the top four most vulnerable groups by the middle of February 2021. He also announced the programme will be expanded down the priority list so more can receive the jabs using the new National Booking Service to make appointments.
