Mayor of London announces £544m funding to help city recover from coronavirus (COVID-19)

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has unveiled a package of funding worth £544m, to be spent on creating jobs and revitalising local areas in London, in order to support the capital’s recovery from the coronavirus (COVID-19) lockdown. Measures forming part of the £544m funding package include the £32m Good Work Fund, £499m in investments from utility companies to create jobs and a £4m High Streets for All Challenge.

Moreover, a group of London’s largest organisations have together signed the city’s first ‘Anchor Institutions’ Charter’, committing the organisations to help the capital recover from the pandemic. The Mayor has also called on the government to match his plans for London.
