In-person medical examinations restricted amid new coronavirus (COVID-19) measures

MedCo has announced that face-to-face medical examinations should not be conducted by medical report providers during the new national restrictions being introduced by the government in England on Thursday, 5 November 2020 as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. One of the exemptions to these restrictions is traveling to ‘hospital GP and other medical appointments or visits where you have had an accident or are concerned about your health’. MedCo highlights that this exemption is applicable ‘for the purposes of medical treatment only’. Appointments for face-to- face medical examinations should be cancelled while the restrictions are in force and be ‘either reschedule to a remote examination or defer to a later date’.

The government guidance on the new restrictions can be found here.
