Housing industry should continue working securely amid coronavirus (COVID-19)

The Housing Secretary, Executive Chairman of the Home Builders Federation and Chief Executive of the Federation of Master Builders have published a letter written to the housing industry, confirming that house building and its supply chains should continue working securely during coronavirus (COVID-19), and in accordance with public health guidance. The Charter for safe working practice, which was published earlier in 2020, remains in operation, in addition to the Site Operation Procedures published by the Construction Leadership Council.

The letter also confirms that:

• buying, selling and renting a home can continue in a coronavirus secure manner

• estate and letting agents can operate and show homes but guidance on moving homes must be followed

• home repairs and maintenance can continue

The letter can be viewed here.

The Charter for safe working practice is available here and the Site Operating Procedures can be accessed here.
