Gerald's practice involves both international and UK tax planning. The sectors in which Gerald has a particular focus include financial services, funds (private equity and real estate), leisure, life sciences and natural resources. Gerald specialises in advising in relation to financing arrangements (including inward and outward investment), M&A, insolvency, property development and investment and tax disputes (including where the tax at stake is owed by individuals rather than companies).

Gerald is General Editor of the leading practitioner work Norfolk and Montagu on the Taxation of Interest and Debt Finance. In addition to being a member of the consulting editorial board for LexisNexis PSL Tax, he is also a member of the Law Society's Corporation Tax Sub-Committee.

Sophie is Head of Learning & Development at F-LEX Legal - an award winning legal tech startup helping law firms and organisations manage a flexible work force and supporting lawyers to make smarter life/work choices. 

As part of her portfolio career Sophie runs various learning and development and networking forums for in-house lawyers and mentors junior lawyers.  These include Flying Solo for small and solo legal teams and Aspire for junior in-house lawyers which she runs for LexisNexis UK.  She also works with schools and organisations to promote social mobility within the legal profession, working with The Social Mobility Business Partnership and Aspiring Solicitors. 

She trained as a lawyer in the City and worked as an in-house lawyer for 10 years including as Head of Legal for Virgin Radio and Ginger Media Group.  

Outside of work she is happily married with three sons and enjoys morning walks along the beach with her two dogs.

Eloise qualified as a solicitor in 2000. After a decade at Linklaters (1998-2008), Eloise joined Pinsent Masons in 2008 as a partner where she heads up the London Tax practice. Specialising in corporate tax, finance and investment funds, her areas of expertise include UK and cross-border acquisitions and re-constructions, corporate finance and joint ventures. Her practice also includes tax structuring for onshore and offshore establishments with a focus on cross-border issues.

She has acted for a wide range of household names in the corporate and financial spheres, and authored articles for various top-tier publications (including the Tax Journal, Financial Instruments Tax and Accounting Review, and the Journal of International Banking & Financial Law).

Eloise has been recognised year-on-year by Chambers legal directory as a notable practitioner in her field, and is a recent winner in The Tax Journal's "40 under 40" for 2011/2012.

Hilary is a consultant at Burges Salmon LLP. She has considerable experience of a broad range of corporate tax matters. She has particular expertise in corporate and financing transactions, reorganisations and group tax advice. Hilary is a member of the City of London Law Society Revenue Law Committee, the International Bar Association (including the IBA Taxes Committee) and the International Fiscal Association.
