Secretary for Health and Social Care Matt Hancock has congratulated the UK’s role in funding the development and manufacture of the Oxford/AstraZeneca coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine. In a speech to the Global COVID-19 Vaccine Supply Chain and Manufacturing Summit at Chatham House, Hancock said that the UK 'acted early, we acted safely, and we acted quickly'. Hancock went on to talk about the global vaccination project, opposing vaccine protectionism and supporting COVAX, the initiative launched by the World Health Organization to ensure that the vaccine will be accessible by all countries, regardless of their ability to pay.
