Guidance to be eased for two million people shielding from coronavirus (COVID-19)

The Health and Social Care Secretary, Matt Hancock, has announced that the guidance for people shielding from coronavirus (COVID-19) would be eased from 6 July 2020 across England. They will be able to spend time outdoors in a group of up to six people and form a ‘support bubble’ with another household while maintaining social distancing. The government mentioned that the chances of getting infected by the virus in the community continues to decline, as on average less than one in 1,700 people are estimated to have the virus, whereas it was one in 500 four weeks ago. The guidance will also be relaxed for clinically extremely vulnerable people, who will no longer have to shield from coronavirus from 1 August 2020.
