Gender pay gap reporting postponed until 5 October 2021 due to coronavirus (COVID-19)

Gender pay gap reporting postponed until 5 October 2021 due to coronavirus (COVID-19)

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) has announced that enforcement action against employers who fail to report their gender pay gap will start on 5 October 2021, six months later than previously decided. The change has been made due to the continuing effects of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The Government Equalities Office has published guidance for employers on these changes. The EHRC nonetheless encourages employers to submit their data for 2020–2021 before the deadline if possible.

Public and private sector employers with over 250 employees now have until 5 October 2021 to report their gender pay gap information here.

EHRC Chair, Baroness Kishwer Falkner, said the October deadline ‘strikes the right balance between supporting businesses and enforcing these important regulations’.
