Exemption allows lawyers to break coronavirus (COVID-19) self-isolation rules

Regulation 3(b)(iii) of the Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (Self-Isolation) (England) Regulations 2020, SI 2020/1045 has been introduced which allows lawyers who test positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) to break self-isolation rules ‘to fulfil a legal obligation, including attending court or satisfying bail conditions, or participating in legal proceedings’. Lawyers who test positive would not be breaking the law if they went to court when they are required to self-isolate.
