The Chartered Trading Standards Institute (CTSI) has announced that a telephone scam concerning a major internet provider, BT Openreach, has targeted home workers amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The lockdown has increased internet usage in the UK, making home workers more vulnerable. The CTSI reports that the caller requests that the target downloads an application, Teamviewer, enabling a user to gain remote access to a computer which places the target at risk especially if the computer contains personal details.
