CPS releases July 2020 review findings for coronavirus (COVID-19)

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has published its July 2020 coronavirus (COVID-19) review findings, which set out completed prosecutions under the Coronavirus Act and Health Protection Regulations 2020, SI 2020/129. In July 2020, 162 cases were brought under SI 2020/129, whereas 32 were brought under the Coronavirus Act 2020 (CA 2020). For SI 2020/129, 19 were withdrawn, and two returned to court. For CA 2020, 27 cases were withdrawn, and five returned to court. Of the cases reviewed, 185 were charged by the police and nine by the CPS, the vast majority in March and April 2020.
