Coronavirus (COVID-19)—Scotland’s Sheriff Courts embracing going virtual

The Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service (SCTS) has announced that, from Monday 23 November 2020, Scotland’s Sheriff civil courts will have the capability to conduct proofs, debates, evidential and Fatal Accident Inquiry hearings virtually. The virtual capabilities are being provided for by the WebEx video platform, which has been steadily rolled out across the Court of Session, Sheriff Appeal Court, Personal Injury Court and Upper Tribunal since April 2020 and increasingly so throughout the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
