Coronavirus (COVID-19)—HM Treasury says loan support reached a final total of £80bn

HM Treasury has announced that government loan support through the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic reached a final total of £80bn. Over 1.6m loans, including Bounce Back Loans and Coronavirus Business Interruption Loans, were approved between April 2020 and May 2021.

This final data is being published now because lenders participating in the schemes had until the end of May 2021 to finish processing loans applied for by businesses. HM Treasury and the government-owned British Business Bank had previously published monthly updates on loans applied for and approved until the end of March 2021
