Coronavirus (COVID-19)—government announces surge testing to be deployed in Wakefield

The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) has announced that surge testing and genomic sequencing will be deployed in Wakefield on 24 June 2021 following the identification of a small number of individuals carrying the Delta variant of coronavirus (COVID-19). DHSC has strongly urged all adults who live or work in Wakefield North, Wakefield South, WAKEFIELD East, Pontefract North and Pontefract South to take a coronavirus PCR test irrespective of whether they are showing symptoms. DHSC has said that those who do test positive to the Delta variant will be the subject of enhanced contact tracing.
