Coronavirus (COVID-19)—free parking scheme for healthcare workers ends

The Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government has published guidance on the free council car parking scheme for health, care and volunteer workers over the coronavirus (COVID-19) response period. The scheme mandated that English local councils would offer free car parking to NHS workers, social care staff and NHS volunteers. The scheme ended on 21 June 2021 and most local authorities no longer accept the parking passes.

However, NHS staff continue to be eligible for free parking in hospital car parks and councils may offer their own local concessions for health workers and other groups. It is advised that those interested should check their local councils’ website, which can be found here.
