Coronavirus (COVID-19)—Statement from the Law Society’s President

The President of the Law Society has given a statement acknowledging the concerns from many firms about the impact of complying with parts of the government guidance regarding coronavirus (COVID-19). The President stated that ‘solicitors must be able to fulfil their duties to protect access to justice and uphold the rule of the law. We have been making these concerns known at the highest level of government.’ The Law Society is continually speaking with HM Court & Tribunal Service, the Ministry of Justice and the Legal Aid Agency as they try to balance access to the justice system and risks to practitioners.
