Coronavirus (COVID-19)—probate service is ‘under control’

The Law Society has published an article which aims to provide reassurance that the probate service is under control amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The article states that HM Courts and Tribunal Service (HMCTS) has identified additional resources in order to deal with the expected increase in probate requests, new and existing staff have been trained in handing applications and inputting data and legal advisers are providing additional support. HMCTS  stated that there may be ‘some volatility in waiting times in the coming weeks as the additional resources get established and if receipts increase as forecast’. Members can help HMCTS by only contacting them when absolutely necessary and adopting the online service where applicable.
