Coronavirus (COVID-19)—New guidance provided to assist food industry businesses

The Chartered Trading Standards Institute and the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy have jointly launched a guide on business diversification during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. As multiple pubs and restaurants are planning to diversify their activities by notably offering takeaway options, they ‘will have to engage with rules and regulations that they haven’t before’. The free online guide aims to help these businesses by answering common questions. The guidance includes information about planning rules for pubs and restaurants, food inspections by local authorities and temporary amendments taken notably for single use carrier bags.
