Coronavirus (COVID-19)—guidance for enforcement agents in England and Wales

The Ministry of Justice, with help from Public Health England, has published guidance for enforcement agents in England and Wales detailing how to work safely using the Taking Control of Goods process during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The guidance applies to both public and private enforcement agents, their employers and the creditors who use their services. The guidance will be kept under constant review and will be amended in line with the latest advice on coronavirus.

The guidance states that it 'does not supersede any legal obligations arising from the Taking Control of Goods legislation and should be considered alongside the existing guidance set out in the National Standards for Taking Control of Goods.'

The guidance also says that 'Employers and enforcement agents must carry out an appropriate COVID-19 risk assessment, using this guidance to inform the decisions and control measures taken. This must be done in consultation with unions or workers.'
