Coronavirus (COVID-19)—Exclusion for consumer and commercial accident and illness

The Lloyd's Market Association (LMA) Personal Accident Business Panel has published a new model endorsement, 'Infectious or Contagious Disease Exclusion during a PHEIC (for use on consumer and commercial Accident/Accident & illness policies)' (Public Health Emergency of International Concern).

The exclusion is illustrative only and members can amend the exclusion as they see fit.

This endorsement joins a number of other LMA publications including the:

coronavirus exclusion

• communicable disease endorsement for use on property contracts

• communicable disease exclusion for use on property treaty reinsurance contracts

coronavirus exclusion for use on marine and energy liability contracts

• communicable disease exclusion for use on liability policies

The LMA is continuing to work with various panels and committees who have requested similar language for their respective classes of business in response to coronavirus (COVID-19).
