Consultation launched on Operation Brock legislation on Brexit and coronavirus (COVID-19)

The Department for Transport has launched a consultation on proposals to update legislation underpinning Operation Brock, proposing to remove provisions from traffic management legislation concerning the end of the transition period and coronavirus (COVID-19), in addition to removing sunset clauses. This would enable Operation Brock to be used in the future when there is disruption at the short straits. The deadline for responses is 20 June 2021.

The legislation concerned is:

• The Heavy Commercial Vehicles in Kent (No. 1) Order 2019, SI 2019/1388

• The Heavy Commercial Vehicles in Kent (No. 2) Order 2019, SI 2019/1394

• The Heavy Commercial Vehicles in Kent (No. 3) Order 2019, SI 2019/1210

• The Heavy Commercial Vehicles in Kent (No. 3) (Amendment) Order 2021, SI 2021/109
