Internship Opportunity

EU Tracker tracks the implementation of Directives in currently 16 Member States (15 original plus Poland). You will be working side-by-side with our in-house legal experts, qualified in jurisdictions of different European countries. You will be given the opportunity to discover the interaction between two legal jurisdictions, national and EU, and the way EU law is internalised at national level.

The Intern’s engagement may last up to three months, part-time or full-time. Great performances have the opportunity to be rewarded with a transfer to the Research Assistant Scheme, where you will have the chance to work from home, or to apply for other posts within LexisNexis.

Testimonials:

‘I joined LexisNexis in August 2007 because I saw it as an opportunity to immerse myself in a dynamic, multi-national company that is well-respected in the sector, and especially to be a part of the pioneering concept of EU Tracker. I was also looking to gain first-hand experience in navigating from the abstract notion of EU law to its practical application via the implementation of directives. Whilst working as a Technical Editor, I have learned to challenge myself and develop my analytical abilities through the complexities of four different legal systems and accurately reporting on the difficulties that arise when Member States transpose directives. I am enjoying being part of such a pan-European team, as amongst us, we specialise in nine languages and represent different countries, and this bolsters the constant exchange of expertise and information.’Pagonia Basia EU Tracker Editor (responsible for Ireland, Greece, Finland and the UK)

‘The nature of the tasks meant that I was provided with insight into a wide variety of legal areas. Much of the research I undertook has proven very valuable in my later studies and gave me a head start, not only with regards to the practical side of how the EU law and national institutions function, but also in respect of particular Directives which I now hear my lecturers mention in class. I also appreciated the freedom I was given to work largely independently, learned a lot and genuinely enjoyed working with the EU Tracker Team. I am lucky to have been provided with the experience the Internship offered.’ Louise Strom (Intern for Denmark, summer 2007)

‘I believe this was an amazing opportunity for me. Not only did I learn a lot about the substance of EU law, fully comprehended the ways directives are transposed in different national legal systems, developed interaction with other interns but I also gained invaluable experience working in a big legal office in London. I learned a lot and I appreciate being provided with constant feedback on my work. Following the Internship, I became increasingly more interested in EU law and I have now applied to work for the European Commission.’ Ileanna Papadopoulou (Intern for Greece, summer 2007)

Priority is given to Danish, Finnish, Dutch, Polish, Portuguese and Swedish Internships.
