FANTASTIC INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY!

Are you an undergraduate/postgraduate law student who speaks a European language fluently, is interested in EU Law and wants to gain hands-on experience in legal research?

LexisNexis is offering the opportunity to be involved in an exciting project supporting a new online product. This represents a fantastic chance to make a transition from the abstract notion of EU Law into its integration at national level via the implementation of Directives.

A basic knowledge and understanding of the relevant national legal system is essential. Training on EU law, the transposition of Directives and the product will be provided by our in-house EU legal experts.

The intern-research assistant will:
- track the implementation of EU Directives in a Member State by using all means of information available, for example official publications, websites, mass media etc
- contact the Member State’s authorities (Parliament, Government, Ministries, Regulatory Authorities etc) and assist in building a network of contacts throughout that Member State
- monitor and review national implementing legislation and produce reports in English

Duration
The intern-research assistant will be engaged on a part-time basis, with the start date to be mutually agreed.

Benefits
Working side-by-side with our dynamic multicultural legal team, this opportunity will provide the intern-reseach assistant with invaluable experience and understanding of how Member States approach the difficult task of implementing Directives into their national legal systems.

The intern-research assistant will also gain experience in legal research, familiarity with the practicalities of legislative and governmental processes, engagement in a legal publishing house and an insight into the working world and commercial imperatives.

Looking forward, the experience gained will become an extremely beneficial added value when applying for jobs dealing directly with EU Law either in-house or in the legal field.

Please note that the Internship will be paid at the Government’s National Minimum Wage.

Access to a wide range of training and development courses is also available.

To apply, please send your CV and a covering letter to Pagonia Basia (pagonia.basia@lexisnexis.co.uk) clearly stating which internship you wish to apply for.

Priority is given to Danish, Swedish, Finnish, Portuguese, Dutch, Italian and Hungarian Internships.
