LexisNexis Streamline® Gathers Pace in the Market

Farrer & Co selects LexisNexis Streamline to create integrated business environment and reduce operational inefficiencies

London, 03 December, 2009
– LexisNexis, a leading practice and productivity management solutions provider, today announced that Farrer & Co LLP, a leading London-based law firm, positioned number one in six practice areas by The Legal 500 ranking, has selected LexisNexis Streamline as its best-of-breed business process management platform of choice.

Farrer & Co’s selection of LexisNexis Streamline forms part of the firm’s long term IT strategy to bring together its core legal applications to reduce operational inefficiencies and deliver enhanced client service. When fully implemented, LexisNexis Streamline will create a seamless, integrated business environment by linking together the firm’s existing best-of-breed applications including its Aderant practice management system, OpenText document management system and LexisNexis InterAction customer relationship management system, for the systems’ 350 users at the firm.

The firm chose LexisNexis Streamline for its unrestricted and rapid developmental capabilities, flexible workflow and Microsoft-centric architecture. With LexisNexis Streamline, Farrer & Co will be able to easily enhance and extend the functionality of its existing best-of-breed applications. In addition, by using the ready built Legal Frameworks within the platform, coupled with familiar Microsoft technology, software developers at the firm will be able to produce new solutions quickly and easily.

Immediately on implementation and as part of an update for its Intranet, the firm is looking to create a fee earner portal for client and matter management. This portal will give fee earners access to all relevant, contextualised information across applications from a single user interface, eliminating the need for them to log into disparate systems.

Neil Davison, Head of Information Technology, Farrer & Co LLP, commented, “The deployment of LexisNexis Streamline is a strategic decision. It is a unique technology that offers us tremendous potential for integration and development. From a systems perspective, it will be the overarching technology that will perfectly integrate our core legal applications. However, from a user perspective, it will be the invisible layer that sits beneath Microsoft SharePoint to provide a seamless environment for business operation. Fee earners and other users will not even know that they are using this solution. I am not aware of any other business process management platform that can enable us to do this so quickly. It’s a best-of-breed solution to complement our existing systems.”

Tim Cheadle, General Manager, LexisNexis Practice & Productivity Management, said, “We are delighted with the response we are receiving for LexisNexis Streamline. It is creating a real reverberation in the market mainly because it enables firms to innovate cost effectively at a very sophisticated level, using existing skill sets and without the need for any additional investment to support its use. More importantly, it does not lock down firms into large proprietary technology investments. The fact that a distinguished firm such as Farrer & Co has chosen LexisNexis Streamline speaks volumes for its technical superiority and the business benefits it can deliver.”

This announcement comes hot on the heels of other recent LexisNexis Streamline-related news from the company. Mishcon de Reya Solicitors, a prestigious UK law firm, is currently rolling out LexisNexis Streamline; and Kestrel Business Solutions, an exclusive technology and solutions consultancy to law firms, has entered into a strategic partnership with LexisNexis to implement, deliver and add value to LexisNexis Streamline in the large law segment of the legal market.

LexisNexis Streamline is a best-of-breed, scalable, single platform for legal process workflow, offering organisations a powerful toolkit to build customised applications embodying best practice to fit their specific business needs.
