LexisNexis Launches LexisCheck Version 4.0

Legal citation checking software now reads Word, Web and PDF

LONDON, July 20, 2011 – LexisNexis UK (www.lexisnexis.co.uk), a leading global provider of content-enabled workflow solutions, today announced the release of Lexis®Check version 4.0 which now includes LexisCheck PDF, enabling lawyers and barristers to check opposing skeleton arguments saved as PDF documents.

LexisCheck sits on the Adobe® Reader® toolbar and swiftly scans PDF documents for references to case law, legislation and regulations, identifying any out-of-date references. In doing so, LexisCheck saves lawyers and barristers time and mitigates risk.

Using Adobe Reader 9 or X, LexisCheck automatically identifies legal references and displays signals to indicate if the citation should be considered ‘reasonable,’ to be used with ‘caution’ or regarded as ‘unreliable.’  Links to the full-text in LexisLibrary and related cases and commentary give lawyers the information they need to determine the correct application of the law.

Tim Hawkins, Content and Customer Operations director, LexisNexis UK, said: “The updated version of LexisCheck demonstrates our ongoing commitment to working with lawyers and barristers to provide innovative solutions that help in the day-to-day practice of law.”

“Legal professionals frequently need to check the accuracy of opposing arguments via PDF documents. With LexisCheck they can save time and increase their efficiency by automating this process,” Hawkins added. “LexisCheck helps reduce the risk of citing out-of-date law while giving users a comprehensive snapshot of information, at the touch of a button.”
