Halsbury Legal Awards 2014 announces Stonewall as charity partner

LexisNexis partners with Stonewall to raise funds to tackle homophobic bullying in schools

LONDON, 27 May 2014 – LexisNexis UK (www.lexisnexis.co.uk), a leading provider of content and technology solutions, today announced Stonewall as charity partner for the 2014 Halsbury Legal Awards.

The Halsbury Legal Awards celebrate the achievements of individuals, law firms, chambers and organisations across the legal sector. As charity partner, Stonewall has the opportunity to increase awareness of their work on the awards night, as well as raise money to support the charity.

Stonewall is Britain’s leading lesbian, gay and bisexual (LGB) equality charity. Its Diversity Champions Programme helps organisations to promote equality in the workplace to ensure that LGB staff can perform to their full potential. LexisNexis joined the Diversity Champions programme in 2013, and are using best practice from the Workplace Equality Index to improve diversity and inclusion across all strands of equality.

Christian Fleck, Managing Director of LexisNexis UK, said: “Diversity and inclusion is very important to LexisNexis to ensure that we recruit and retain the best talent and have an environment that allows people to contribute their very best. It’s therefore fitting that Stonewall, which works to improve equality and inclusion in the workplace, schools and wider society, is our charity partner for the Halsbury Legal Awards this year.”

Stonewall, which was established in 1989, has been instrumental in changing the legislative environment for LGB people in Britain. Their campaigning work and policy expertise spans areas including health, education, media and hate crime.

Ruth Hunt, Acting Chief Executive of Stonewall, said: “We’re excited to partner with the Halsbury Legal Awards and LexisNexis to help raise funds for our work to tackle homophobic bullying in Britain’s schools. Too many young lesbian, gay and bisexual people still grow up experiencing bullying and harassment. This support means we can continue to work with thousands of schools across the country to eradicate homophobic abuse.”
