LexisNexis Moving Full Steam Ahead on Legal Industry ERP Platform Development
LexisNexis UK (www.lexisnexis.co.uk) provides an update on its recently announced legal market-specific practice management system (PMS).
LONDON, 16th, February 2011 – LexisNexis UK (www.lexisnexis.co.uk), a leading provider of content-enabled workflow solutions, today provided an update on its recently announced legal market-specific practice management system (PMS).
Built on Microsoft Dynamics AX, an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution, the programme is progressing per schedule with positive feedback from across the sector globally, especially Europe and Australasia.
Key highlights include:
* Early adopter programme – This programme is fully subscribed with a cross section of law firms. These entities cover the range of potential users of the solution in the legal sector.
* Phased product development – The platform development is being undertaken in six phases to ensure that the end product (scheduled for early adopter implementation in the first quarter of 2012) is the result of an iterative process and that it meets the specific requirements of all types of legal businesses. The first phase is underway with a presentation to interested firms scheduled for the end of June via the company’s Registered Interest Group (RIG) forum.
* Product Advisory Board – The first meeting, held on 3rd March, was well attended by the early adopter participants and a number of other interested law firms. It included an exclusive preview of Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 by Microsoft. Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 is scheduled for general availability in August 2011.
* Team – LexisNexis has recruited a number of experienced Dynamics AX personnel to enhance in-house development capability; and has engaged with a large Microsoft Dynamics AX development partner to provide additional expertise and capacity. In addition, through the Microsoft partnership, LexisNexis enjoys the benefit of regular input and insight from the Microsoft Dynamics AX architects. This service from Microsoft is only available to integrated software vendors.
“A sophisticated enterprise resource planning system that goes beyond the scope of the traditional legal systems, combining financial applications; human resources and payroll; time and billing; and expense management is now pertinent to the operation of legal entities. We are committed to our partnership with LexisNexis in facilitating the development of a solution that will help legal sector organisations meet their changing business needs”, says Kees Hertogh, Director, Microsoft Dynamics AX Product Management, Microsoft.
“This solution combines our deep legal domain expertise and cutting edge Microsoft technology, “ adds Tim Cheadle, Managing Director, LexisNexis Enterprise Solutions. “The end product will be a robust and flexible platform, catering to the requirements of every size of law firm, and the alternative business structures of the future. Already, we are very encouraged by the constructive feedback and interest from legal entities – they recognise the significance of this solution for their businesses, especially given the rapidly changing regulatory landscape.”
LexisNexis is organising a number of networking lunches in London, Bristol, Manchester and Edinburgh throughout June to update organisations on the development of the solution and to provide participants with an opportunity to share their business challenges and hear from industry thought leaders. To register, please email Heidi Cranfield on firstname.lastname@example.org.
The first LexisNexis Registered Interest Group (RIG) presentation is due to take place at the end of June and quarterly thereafter. The RIG has been set up to enable interested parties to gain a closer look at the LexisNexis solution during development and speak directly to those involved with the development of the solution; and access relevant information including Microsoft and LexisNexis webinars, the solution roadmap and Microsoft Dynamics documentation. It is a restricted group, so participants will be asked to sign an NDA and disclose their interest in the solution. Interested parties should contact Laura Whitehead on email@example.com.
