Josh Bottomley is responsible for LexisNexis' UK operations including Butterworths, Tolley, Visualfiles and LexisNexis News & Business. In the UK, LexisNexis is the leading provider of client development, research, productivity management and compliance services to legal, tax and other knowledge-driven professionals.
Experience prior to LexisNexis
Josh has held leadership positions across a broad range of industries. In addition to academic achievements at Trinity College, Cambridge and an MBA with distinction from INSEAD, he has worked in the professional services, publishing and data technology sectors. In each of his roles, Josh has identified and delivered innovative products and business models to drive profitable business growth.
Prior to his role at LexisNexis, Josh was CEO of IMP Europe - a 160 million pound business publishing collectible series through direct marketing channels across 20 countries. In this position Josh was responsible for re-organising the business to generate industry leading margins. As a director of the Financial Times Group (Pearson), he had responsibility across the publishing, online and data businesses during the most successful period in the FT Group's history. He previously spent seven years working internationally in professional services for Goldman Sachs and McKinsey.

Josh enjoys sailing and other water sports as well as spending time with his family.
Alex Sage
Finance Director

Current Responsibilities
Alex Sage is responsible for all aspects of Finance for LexisNexis' UK which includes Butterworths, Tolley, Visualfiles and LexisNexis News & Business brands. Alex's team comprises around 70 people. Alex's focus is on making Finance a real business partner, and providing the company with insightful decision support and analysis to support business goals and drive financial performance. In the UK, LexisNexis is the leading provider of client development, research, productivity management and compliance services to legal, tax and other knowledge-driven professionals.
Experience prior to LexisNexis
Alex is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales having qualified with Arthur Andersen within the audit practice. Alex has worked in several Finance roles within the media industry since qualification in 1997.
Prior to his roles at LexisNexis, Alex worked in several Finance based roles at Reuters PLC, latterly in the Enterprise division supporting the acquisition of several businesses in the market research and company information sectors.
Hobbies/Areas of interest outside of work
Alex enjoys running (mainly 10km / half marathons) and practices the art of campanology.
Nicky Briggs
Editorial & Publishing Director

Current Responsibilities
Nicky Briggs is responsible for LexisNexis UK’s content publishing operations including the Butterworths, Tolley and Visualfiles brands. She heads a team of more than 300 people and has grown the content business consistently through the development of innovative products.
Experience prior to LexisNexis
Nicky has held numerous leadership positions. In addition to academic achievements at Churchill College, Cambridge and an NCTJ diploma in journalism, she has worked in newspapers and new media including as Head of News for the London-based Press Association, international information provider. At PA she reorganised the business to provide content 24 hours a day to the media at a local, national and international level.
Prior to her role at LexisNexis, Nicky was Deputy Editor of the Daily Express – a national newspaper with a circulation of more than one million readers which increased during her time there and which gained a strong reputation for campaigning journalism. In this role Nicky was responsible for restructuring the organisation to produce award winning newspapers and to provide content in the most innovative and efficient and way.

Nicky enjoys marathon running and other sports as well as spending time with her family.
Rob Farquharson
Director of LexisNexis Connect

Current Responsibilities
Rob Farquharson leads the LexisNexis Connect business that incorporates our magazines and journals, as well as our conference and training businesses, that serve clients across legal, tax, public sector and corporate markets. They provide opportunities such as openings for conference or webinar speakers, scope for writing and commenting - both in print and online - to help clients develop their careers, their practices and their personal brands. Additionally Rob leads the teams that provide client development services in the UK and cross border with LawyerLocator and Martindale Hubbell.
Experience prior to LexisNexis
Rob qualified as a lawyer with Clifford Chance before joining 3i plc's corporate finance team. He then gained his MBA at The Wharton Business School in Philadelphia before spending some time as a management consultant with Bain & Company.
Hobbies/Areas of Interest outside of work
Rob is kept busy by his young and expanding family. Rob and his wife are currently renovating their house in Surrey and when he has any spare time he tries to keep fit through cycling, running and fell walking.
Tim Cheadle

Current Responsibilities
Tim Cheadle leads the LexisNexis Enterprise Solutions business with a focus on expanding the company's position as a leading integrated solutions provider to the legal, corporate and government markets. Responsible for Practice Management & Client Development solutions, his team works to address the total needs of a business, not just individual departments, helping them to streamline, increase productivity and efficiency. Enterprise Solutions is focused on developing industry leading processes that anticipate and accommodate new legislative and best practice changes across legal, tax and compliance related workflows, Business Intelligence and CRM applications.

Prior to LexisNexis, Tim previously served as Director of Product Solutions at Micro Focus where he lead the product management and solutions organisation across a large software portfolio; has also run his own hi-tech consultancy, and held a variety of senior positions at FormScape Software and at Imation Corp. He has a BSC in Business Administration and Political Sciences from Aston University.

Ian McDougall
Vice President & Legal Director

Current responsibilities
Ian McDougall is the Legal Director for the ECLA region and is responsible for the management of the corporate legal department and the provision of legal advice to the business across the entire range of business activities in the region. He enjoys giving presentations on legal and industry matters to the International Bar Association conferences (roving LN ambassador!!) and other groups (e.g. Parliament & Industry Trust).
Previous Experience
Previously Ian was Board Director for Telco Global Ltd, responsible for Legal, Human Resources and Facilities Departments, as well as being Group Company Secretary. Prior to that, he was the Chief European Counsel for Hughes Electronics Inc. (Then a subsidiary of General Motors).
Ian is a Barrister and has experience of handling litigation in High Court, Court of Appeal and the House of Lords in the UK. He has taken part in major constitutional law cases and has lectured on various EU and regulatory matters.
Hobbies/Areas of interest outside of work
Cricket commentator (live audio broadcasts) on the internet for the MCC (usually games at Lord’s cricket ground). Also represented England Lawyers in the Lawyers Cricket World Cup in Hyderabad, India (Dec 07) (now retired from playing!). Enjoy travelling and reading (auto)-biographies.
Andy Marshall

Current Responsibilities
Andy Marshall leads our Account Management Sales Teams across the UK Top 300 legal firms, corporate markets, public sector, trade, academic, export and Ireland. His teams are responsible for maintaining relationships with our large clients, delivering revenue growth and driving penetration of our new products and solutions. The teams deliver superior customer experience through structured client management relationships as well as providing the right propositions to customers by drawing together client insights, internal resources and key stakeholders from across our business.

Andy has held a wide range of sales and management positions at Sainsburys, Coca-Cola and most recently as a General Manager with Energis, where he was part of the management team that transformed the ailing Telecoms operator, culminating in a £900m trade sale to Cable and Wireless.

Andy is a keen golfer and cyclist and is married with two young sons.
Wai-Fung Thompson

Wai-Fung Thompson co-leads our Commercial Management function with Aneil Rakity. This is responsible for the growth of our business to all UK law firms (outside of the largest 500 firms), barrister chambers, and all tax & accountancy firms. The team deploys a unique cross-functional approach of sales, marketing, legal, tax and business experts to develop and deliver the right propositions to customers through a mix of appropriate channels.
Experience prior to LexisNexis
Wai-Fung read English and Education at Emmanuel College and Homerton College, Cambridge and enjoyed employment as a teacher before embarking on a career in sales. She has lead sales teams in the Financial Times (Pearson), Interactive Data Corporation, Standard and Poor's (McGraw Hill) and Egg Bank (Prudential).

Wai-Fung is an enthusiastic skier and gymnastics club coach and enjoys life in the country with her family.
Aneil Rakity

The team deploys a unique cross-functional approach of sales, marketing, legal, tax and business experts to develop and deliver the right propositions to customers through a mix of appropriate channels.

Aneil was a management consultant with McKinsey & Company and Accenture in Europe and the United States where he worked with clients across a range of industries including media & entertainment, technology, FMCG and financial services. He holds an MBA from The Wharton Business School.

Aneil enjoys spending time with his family and can be regularly found with his two young sons exploring the parks of London.
